My brother can drive it to me in Oklahoma if the dealership near him will transfer it. He lives in Riverside, CA, and this car is about 7.5 hours away from him. If he drives it, I get to see him during the holidays, and I avoid paying a big transfer fee. I’m wondering if I could get them to lower the price or negotiate in some way.
That’s quite high for a used car, it’s almost the same as new.

I paid less for a brand new 2023 PHEV EX last year.
Seems a bit high to me. You can get a 2022 model for under $25k, which would also qualify for the used EV tax credit (if your income is below $150k). Here’s a link to one I found: Used Kia Niro Hybrid Plug-In for Sale in Hyattsville, MD - CarGurus
2023 models will qualify starting in 2025, which should lower prices closer to $25k due to the tax credit.
That’s about the same price I paid for a brand new 2023 last April.

Was it April 23 or 24? I’m surprised the price hasn’t gone down much, maybe because of the color and high demand for these cars. I want one under 19k miles, and this one has a cold weather package. I wonder if it has other added features. It’s a lot to consider, and it’s feeling overwhelming.
I paid that much for a new 2024 PHEV SX Touring back in July. With tariffs, I don’t expect prices to go down.

I had a feeling the price was high, but there aren’t many of these available in the US, and I don’t want to pay $45k for a new 2025. I was thinking about waiting until the end of December to see if I can get a better price, but it’s tricky with the SX being in high demand and the tariffs coming.
@fabricia
If the car in the photo is really the orange paint, it’s not available anymore. Try offering $33,000 and see what they say. I’d consider it if they counter-offered with $34,000. It’s not a bargain, but not a terrible deal either. The 2023+ Niro models are definitely more desirable. As you said, waiting is a gamble. The end of November should give you roughly the same pricing as the end of the year. Good luck!
@Johnstone
I’ve been wanting orange, so I’m pretty excited about that.

Don’t let them know you’re excited about it though .

It’s a great car! I bought a blue one in August, and even though it cost too much, I really like it. Jealous you’re getting the orange one .
@Musk
I think this thread has helped me see that the price is a bit much when I compare it to the 2024 models. I’m not sure what justifies this higher price, aside from the cold weather package. I really liked the idea of the orange, and my brother using the trip as an excuse to visit. I’m even looking at regular hybrids now. I’m asking myself whether the fuel savings are worth the extra cost. A new 2025 SX hybrid is $32k. I’m just not sure what to do with these high prices.

I didn’t know the tariffs applied to Korea.

Yes, everyone gets tariffs, but China gets a larger one. The tariffs are expected to add at least $4k to the cost next year.
I bought my brand new 2025 SX HEV for $34k. It’s not a PHEV, but I’m averaging 60 MPG.

I’ve been leaning toward the PHEV (especially in orange), and the prices are pretty consistent for the 6 available in the US. But I’m starting to think about the HEV now. I just need a vehicle in the next 6-8 weeks, so my options are limited. I definitely want an SX.
@fabricia
I got the white one, and I love it. Orange is cool too, but I don’t regret my choice. Since I live in northern Illinois, I was worried about being stuck in the snow with only a battery to power the car, so the hybrid was the right choice. I don’t have a charger at home either, and I don’t want to be stuck waiting for a charge in freezing weather. But I don’t think orange comes with the HEVs.
@Jade
I have a garage, so I would just use a Level 1 charger. You’re right about the snow though—I don’t want to wait around to charge. I don’t mind waiting in good weather for free chargers. Even with the battery depleted, it’ll still get over 50 MPG. The HEV is much cheaper though. What’s crazy is that with tax credits, new EVs are $22k, but a full EV isn’t the best option for me right now.
There’s also this one available, but the prices seem about the same for others. I’d pay to get it wrapped in a different color. Here’s the link to a blue 2023: blue 2023
