Looking at a 2023 Niro PHEV EX, one owner, 40,500 miles on it. I plan to use the used EV credit, so I’m thinking it will cost me around $21,858.50 after that… Is this a good deal?
Lol what’s the ‘dealer’ fee?

Their profit
Tell them to take off all those extra fees like that dealer fee at least.

Just got off the phone. They’re not willing to remove those fees. They said e-filing is to ‘save me time,’ but when I offered to do it myself at the DMV, they said no Guess it’s not about saving time after all.
@Masitsa
Which state are you in? If there’s a neighboring state with lower doc fees or if it’s regulated/fixed, just say, ‘Look, 2 hours away, they’re charging $175 (like NY) and still making a profit. I’ll give you $250… or $300.’ That doc fee is insane. Thanks NJ and FL.
$400 for tags? What are you getting for the $999 dealer fee? Seems inflated to me.
I’d rather go for a 2025 KIA K4 EX for the same price (or maybe even less).
40K miles between 2023 and 2024 is a lot. It should be more like 24k. Plus, it’s an EV, and the warranty doesn’t transfer to the new owner. If any battery issues come up, it could be a major problem. I’d think twice before buying, assuming you haven’t bought it yet.
That’s a LOT of miles in 2 years.

Considering the car could’ve been sold in the spring of 2022, that’s not really a lot of miles.

Thanks for the downvote… over this?
2023 model would be released late 2022 at best. It was announced in April 2022. Assuming 12k a year is average… Yeah, 40K on a new platform like an EV is a lot of miles.
E-filing fee is a joke. And I assume new tag is registration? That isn’t $400. You should get at least $400+ off.

I agree. They mentioned that the $400 fee might be removed since I already have a tag. I’m still working out the details with them in person because I’m dealing with them from a different part of the state.
I’d take your KIA.

New tag $400. What state is this? $1k dealer fee is ridiculous too…

Florida, but the fee will go down since I have a tag.

Not sure about FL, but in IL, for example, you can’t transfer plates. You have to apply for a new one.
@breezy
Florida allows you to transfer the tag
