My partner and I are thinking about getting a new 2024 Telluride. We love how it drives and looks, but I’ve heard some things about issues with the exterior paneling. Is this a common problem? Would love to hear from anyone who already owns one!
Here’s how I see it: for around $50k, you’re getting features you’d find in cars priced at $70k. So, they had to cut costs somewhere. You might start noticing it in some areas. I’m guessing they went with cheaper options for parts like the windshield.

Pretty much all manufacturers get their windshields from other suppliers. Car companies don’t make those parts themselves.

Yeah, but I meant they might’ve picked a cheaper option for their windshields.

Totally agree. The windshield is super thin. Mine cracked after a tiny pebble hit it on the highway. Progressive replaced it with an aftermarket one, but it wasn’t great—blurred the HUD display. Ended up getting it swapped out again for an OEM. Had a few more hits since then but no more cracks so far.
I’ve got three kids, including a baby, and we use a swivel car seat in the third row for our middle child. It makes buckling in so much easier. Our setup is two kids in the back and my partner with the baby in the second row. We went for the X Pro SX Prestige because we wanted all the safety features, plus the better traction and off-road capabilities. If you’re considering the X-Line for better grip, I’d say spend a little more and get the X-Pro.
I’m loving my 2024 Telluride! Had a few recalls, but nothing too serious. It’s been a great family car so far.
Bought a 2024 made in late 2023. No big issues so far, just a couple of minor recalls. We’re about 6,500 miles in and everything’s good—no problems with oil, trim, or electronics. Would definitely buy again.
Two things to keep in mind:
First, you’ll usually see complaints online because people who are happy don’t post much. Plus, some of those complaints are just old problems being brought up again.
Second, they’re making a lot of these every week, so it’s normal to see some issues pop up here and there. It’s the same with other brands. Recalls happen, even big ones, across the board. Buying a new car is always a bit of a risk, but maybe less so than getting a 1-year-old used car where someone else has worked out the bugs.
Yeah, there’s been a bit of an issue with the trim coming off, but it should be covered under warranty. Or you could use double-sided tape to stick it back down.
We’ve had our Telluride for about 2.5 years now and put 27k miles on it. No serious problems, just a few minor recalls for things like the tow harness and software updates. Amazing family car, fits 6-7 people comfortably, and lots of cargo space when the third row is folded. Smooth drive, comfy seats, and great safety features like parking sensors and blind spot alerts. Definitely recommend!
I’ve got a 2024 and overall, it’s been a great purchase. It’s a nice drive and a bit more rugged than a minivan for getting around with our three kids.
That said, the trunk is small, so if you have a stroller, it takes up most of the space. One of ours doesn’t fit unless we fold the back row. I haven’t had any issues with the exterior paneling so far. My only gripe is the curved screen—feels a bit off-center as a driver, which bugs me more than I thought it would.
Just go for it. I doubt you’ll regret it. My 2023 has been solid, no paneling issues. If you can, get a trim with the 360 camera view—it’s a feature I wish I had.

Interesting! I have the 360 view camera, but I rarely use it. The real reason I upgraded to the top trim was for the digital key and not having to carry the big key fob, plus features like ventilated seats, HUD, and the smart stop-and-go driver assist. For just a bit more, the X-Pro package was worth it, especially if you deal with hot, cold, or rainy weather, which covers pretty much everyone.
I’ve really enjoyed this SUV as our main family car. The paneling issue is right below the windows, but a little superglue fixed it up for good. Not a big deal at all!
I bought the first Telluride SX back in 2019 (2020 model) and it’s been a great ride. Now at 60k miles with no issues except for a leaky CV boot, which I got fixed under warranty. Bought it for the family, and my partner’s already thinking of getting another when their car’s ready to be replaced. Great value, drives smoothly, and has all the space we need.
