Is KIA Telluride 2024 the best SUV for off-roading?

The latest Kia Telluride is nearly identical to its predecessors. It still features the same 3.8-liter V-6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering 262 lb-ft of torque and 291 horsepower.

Kia Telluride 2024 is a fantastic SUV, but not the ultimate off-road champ. Here’s why:

  • Built for comfort and everyday driving, with a luxurious interior and smooth ride. AWD helps in various conditions, but not ideal for truly rough terrain.
  • Lower ground clearance compared to dedicated off-road SUVs, limiting it on steep inclines, declines, or rocky trails.
  • Designed with families in mind, prioritizing features like space, cargo, and safety (off-roading can be risky!).

However, it does offer some capability:

  • Available AWD for better traction on loose surfaces.
  • Drive modes (on some trims) might optimize performance for light off-roading.
  • Spacious interior for passengers and gear on off-road adventures.

The Telluride could handle light off-roading with its AWD and drive modes. But for serious adventures, a dedicated off-road SUV with more ground clearance and rugged features would be a better choice!

If you’re looking to engage in extensive off-road activities, you might want to consider a different SUV. However, for occasional off-road excursions on moderate trails, the 2024 Kia Telluride, especially in the X-Pro trim, presents a viable choice.

The biggest problem they have is their network of service dealers. I think mine is awful.
