I had an accident (not my fault). Waiting for the body shop to get back to me. My friend said it’s totaled based on these pics… Is he right? It’s a 2024 Kia Sportage SX Prestige AWD with 55K miles

Yeah, he’s right.

If there’s damage to the frame, it could very well be totaled, but no one online can tell for sure from just a couple of pictures.

Your friend is probably right… I had a vehicle with less damage but in a similar spot and it was written off. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t. Hope you’re okay though! Cars can be replaced, you can’t.

I’m fine, and thankfully, the other driver and her two kids are too.

As a claims adjuster, I think they’ll total it. Hope everyone is safe and I wish you the best!

Yep, it’s totaled for sure. Look at the tire… the driveshaft could be broken. If it is, it’s definitely totaled.

Drive shafts can be replaced. It all depends on the cost of fixing the damage compared to the vehicle’s book value.

@DanBurn
Oh, thanks. I don’t know much about cars. My Honda was in a crash 5 months ago and the driveshaft broke, and they totaled it.

It’s completely destroyed.

Yeah, it’s totaled… Same thing happened to me with my 2024 Seltos last February… :cry::cry::disappointed:

Did you have GAP insurance? I’m in trouble because I don’t have it.

You might want to hire a lawyer.

@Gerald
A lawyer won’t help get your loan paid off more than the vehicle’s value. Insurance will pay based on the vehicle’s value unless specified otherwise in your policy.

@Gerald
To do what?

Were you an Uber driver?

@KintaKinta
No.

No.

How did you rack up so many miles in just a year?

Unless he’s an expert, your friend isn’t qualified to say. Your insurance company will make the final call. If the frame’s badly damaged, it’ll likely be a total loss, as fixing a frame is expensive and dangerous in some cases. Otherwise, it comes down to whether the cost of repairs is more than the vehicle’s value.
