Does my Telluride come with remote start?

My wife and I just got a used 2020 SX Prestige Telluride! We’re really enjoying it so far, though we’re not used to all its features since we’ve always had older cars. The ad mentioned that it has remote start, but the key fob methods we’ve tried haven’t worked. Any ideas? We still love the car, but my wife is a bit disappointed that the remote start isn’t working.

To use the remote start with the key fob, you need to press the lock button, then press and hold the remote start button at the back of the fob. Hope this helps.

That won’t work for the 2020 model, the key fob doesn’t have remote start. It’s app-only or you need an aftermarket setup.

Ignore the other comments, this one matters. If the fob has remote start, it’ll work like that.

@KiaGuru
Actually, the 2020 model doesn’t support remote start via the fob. You can only use the app or get an aftermarket setup. The 2021 models added the feature to the fob.

I added a kit that lets me use remote start from the fob. I press the lock button three times, and then I can start the car. I also pay for the app subscription.

I bought a 2020, and it doesn’t have a button for remote start. You’ll need to use the Kia Access app (formerly UVO) to start the car. It’s subscription-based.

I own a 2020, and it didn’t come with remote start from the factory. The 2021 models had the remote start button on the fob.

Can you buy a newer fob and have it programmed to add remote start?

Congrats on your new car! Through the Kia Connect App (subscription needed), you can remote start and do other things. I use the app regularly with my 2020.

This is the right answer. You have to pay for the subscription, but you can cancel it month to month. I sign up when it gets hot so I can start the A/C, and cancel when it cools down.

How did you buy a Telluride and not know if it has remote start? Shouldn’t you have checked with the dealership?

It was listed in the vehicle details, and we didn’t double-check. I guess that was our mistake.

@DolphGabbana
Call the dealership first thing tomorrow or drive back if it’s close.

…or just Google it.

No, the 2020 doesn’t have it. You can buy a kit from accessorides to enable remote start with three lock button presses.

That app is terrible, and it’s not free.

It’s the same with the key fob.

Not for the 2020, which is what the person who posted this is asking about.

@Jony
When did the fob change?
