Do you think my car is totaled…?

Yeah, probably.

The airbags didn’t even go off, but that deer came out of nowhere…

I have a 2020 GT-Line, and mine was totaled in a similar crash.

@LillyGrace
Wait, really?

Yeah, I drive a Forte GT-Line. I’ve got a rough idea of what repairs cost, and this thing is done for.

Even if it’s not officially totaled, you might want to sell it. It’ll never drive the same again.

Edit: I got my facts wrong, and someone corrected me.

@DaniellaSilva
I work in collision repair. Cars usually get totaled when the airbags deploy because they cost so much to replace. A couple of airbags alone can add thousands to the repair bill, making it easier for insurance to write the car off.

@Ameliascarlet
Yeah, people think insurance totals cars for safety reasons, but it’s all about money.

Next thing you know, someone’s gonna say hospitals make decisions based purely on patient care.

Yeah, it’s not a safety issue. As long as the sensors and airbags get replaced, the car is just as safe as before.

I know how things work… Doesn’t mean I can’t have a little hope. Anyway, I edited my comment to admit I was wrong.

@Ameliascarlet
Alright, I get it. I was wrong, so I updated my comment. Thanks for the info.

No problem. More people understanding how this stuff works can only help.

Probably. Even if the damage is mostly cosmetic, insurance will also factor in the cost of repairs and how much the car loses in resale value.

If the radiator got pushed back, it’s done for. My car wasn’t even hit that bad, just a bumper and fender, but they still totaled it.

@Billy
Had my 2020 Forte’s bumper replaced after a minor crash, and it cost me 5 grand…

Looking at this, I’d guess the engine took a hit too. If that’s the case, the car’s worth maybe 10K at best, and I see at least 7K in parts alone.

If the radiator or transmission is damaged, it’s definitely totaled. What are your state’s insurance rules? I had a 2020 Prius valued at 23K, but since repairs were 19K, they still wrote it off.

Take it to a good shop and get an estimate.

Looks like it’ll buff right out.
