I recently got a new Telly after owning a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a GMC Yukon. Both of those cars had Smart Cruise and Auto High Beams, and they stayed on even after you turned the car off and on. But I’m thinking the 2024/25 Telly may need me to turn them on again every time I start the car. Is that right?
Yes, both features reset to off every time you start the car.

That’s annoying.

It is pretty frustrating, especially the auto high beams resetting every time you turn off the car. You forget and then wonder why your high beams won’t come on. As for cruise control, it’s a minor thing since you already press a button to set the speed, so pressing it again to turn it on isn’t a huge deal.
I know this is off-topic, but what made you switch from the Yukon and Jeep to the Telly?

The Jeep was a 2014, and it’s surprising it had those features when the Telly doesn’t. I just traded in my 2021 Yukon Denali for the 2025 Prestige X Line. My financial situation changed, and I ended up trading it in for 66k, still owed 20k on it. Now I’m leasing the Telly with no down payment. My payment is $200 lower each month, and I got a check for 44k from the trade-in. I’m on a 36-month lease, 15k miles per year, no money down, and paying $800 monthly.

Wow, that’s a big change! Are you missing your Denali at all? I have a 2022 SX Prestige Nightfall.

I do miss it a little, it was bigger and luxurious, but honestly, it was too much for what I needed. It was also expensive to fill up with premium gas, especially with Seattle gas prices near $5 per gallon. I’ve got two kids, so the Yukon was great, but with the changes in the economy, it didn’t make sense to keep it. The wife told me to choose between the Yukon and my country club, and golf is important to me, so the Telly was the right choice. Feature-wise, the Yukon is better, but I do like the Telly. I work from home, so I don’t drive a lot, so it works for now. I went with the SX Prestige X Line, Wolf Gray with Terracotta interior. It’s not as luxurious as the Yukon, but it’ll do until my financial situation improves. I might get another Yukon after my lease is up in 3 years.

That’s what I thought about the Yukons. They look amazing, but for my height, I’d feel like I’m driving a bus! Hope you all enjoy your Telly.

My sister-in-law has a 2018 Yukon Denali, and she was asking me about my car when I got mine.

By the way, what exactly is Smart Cruise in your other vehicles? I have adaptive cruise control, but I have to engage it each time I start driving and after turning off the car. However, my lane assist stays on even after I turn the car off. It keeps my car in the lane and makes slight adjustments for me. Also, my high beams aren’t automatic, or at least I don’t think they are.
@TurboTraveler
In the Jeep and Yukon, it’s just called adaptive cruise control. It stays on all the time, and you just press the button to engage it. No need to press anything extra. Also, when the auto high beams are on, they just stay on, and the lights automatically trigger them. You don’t need to touch anything. If the lights come on because it’s not dark enough yet, the beams won’t turn on.
@theresabostick
It’s so frustrating getting used to all the small changes in a new car. My husband refuses to use auto hold, for example.
@theresabostick
The smart cruise in your Telly should activate with just one press of the button on the top right of the steering wheel. What do you mean by hitting ‘up’?
