Hi everyone, I’ve got a 2018 Kia Forte with some issues. The cruise control buttons stopped responding, and recently, the airbag light came on. I’m trying to figure out if these issues are connected and what fuse might be related to the cruise control. A scan showed no codes except for a camshaft sensor issue tied to the check engine light. Any ideas?
Cruise control doesn’t have a dedicated fuse. Both the cruise control buttons and the airbag light might be tied to the clock spring. The clock spring connects the steering wheel buttons and airbag to the main system.

Thanks for pointing that out. Would a faulty clock spring explain both issues?

Yes, a damaged clock spring can cause both problems. I’d recommend getting it checked and possibly replaced.
If the airbag light is on, a proper diagnostic scan using an SRS-compatible tool might confirm the clock spring issue. Did you use a tool like that?

I didn’t use an SRS-compatible scanner. I’ll look into that. Thanks!
For reference, the part number for the clock spring in your car is 93490A7150. Make sure to verify it before ordering.

Appreciate the part number! I’ll double-check and order it if needed.
If the clock spring is damaged, it could also affect other steering wheel functions like the horn or volume controls. Are those working?

Good question. I’ll check those and report back. Thanks for the suggestion!
The camshaft sensor issue is unrelated to the clock spring, but make sure you address that as well to avoid further engine problems.

Thanks for the reminder! I’ll deal with the camshaft sensor once the clock spring issue is resolved.
