Camshaft sensor circuit A bank 1 code on 2018 Kia Forte... need help!

Hi all, I’m getting a camshaft sensor circuit A bank 1 engine code on my 2018 Kia Forte (2.0L 4-cylinder). The issue started about a week or two ago, and the car has been experiencing rough starts and strange idling. I’m unsure if the sensor that needs replacement is located at the front or back of the engine. Also, I came across some information suggesting that something needs to be reset in the computer after replacing the sensor. Can anyone confirm?

On your engine, circuit A (bank 1) is the intake side, which means the sensor is at the front of the engine.

Thanks for clarifying! That makes it easier to locate.

Replacing the camshaft sensor on this model doesn’t require any reprogramming. Just clear the codes after installation and you’re good to go.

Good to know! I’ll make sure to clear the codes once it’s replaced. Thanks!

If the rough start and idle persist after replacing the sensor, you might want to check the wiring or connectors for damage or loose connections.

That’s a great suggestion. I’ll inspect the wiring if the issue doesn’t go away. Thanks!

I had a similar issue, and it turned out to be a faulty sensor out of the box. If you still see the code after replacing it, consider testing the new sensor too.

Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll keep that in mind if the issue persists.

If you don’t have a code scanner to clear the codes, disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes can sometimes reset the system.

That’s a good backup option. I’ll try that if I can’t get the codes cleared with a scanner. Thanks!
