Big gap in my Kia… anyone else noticed this?

The gap here looks way too wide… is this normal or did something fall off?

Yeah, unfortunately. My 2023 has the same issue, and the dealership wouldn’t do anything about it. They just said it’s not something they’ll fix.

Dealers don’t usually handle this stuff unless it’s clearly a factory defect. Might be worth contacting Kia’s Customer Care to see if they’ll cover it. The dealer won’t take action unless Kia pays for it, which makes sense—they didn’t make the car, just sell it.

It’s pretty disappointing, honestly.

What exactly is the problem?

I think it’s the gap between the trunk and the back window. If they were closer, the trunk might not open right. Plus, water’s supposed to flow down there and out through drains.

If you mean the space between the trunk and the back window, yeah, that’s pretty standard.

Wait until the chrome parts start coming loose… that’s when it gets fun. Mine are back-ordered, so I’m just waiting for replacements.

Mine actually came in just a few days later, and I got them installed quickly.

I used to build limos for Lincoln… no way I’d get away with a gap like this. When I get home, I’ll check my wife’s 2023 GT-Line and report back here.

Is it causing any leaks? If not, it could just be a runoff channel designed to drain water away from the trunk.

I had the same question. Thought my car might’ve been in a fender bender or something. Guess it’s just how they come… not great for anyone who’s picky about it.

What year is yours? My 2025 has something similar on the left side.

Mine’s also a 2025.

Same with my 2025 GT. I didn’t even notice until the lights shined on the back at night and made a small shadow on the left side.

I’ve got a 2025 GT-Line too, and it has a similar gap. Just weird.

I thought Kia used the same parts for both the inside and outside?

Glad I didn’t end up getting a K5. Seems like Kia has a lot of issues.

You’re missing out on a solid car because of a few complaints.

My GT’s been the best car I’ve owned.
