Anyone know if you can black out silver trims on a car after buying?

I’m looking at buying a used Telluride, and it has the exact interior I want, but I’m not a fan of the silver trims on the bumpers. Anyone know if I can black those out after buying?

Yes, you can definitely do it. There are options like pre-made stickers for the Telluride or just using a roll of adhesive vinyl to DIY, but it might be better to take it to a pro. Look up a local shop that does wraps and ask about ‘Chrome Delete’ – they can give you a price before you decide.

Thanks, I appreciate the info .

I just got a quote for my Sorento, around $800 for chrome delete. So it might be in that range for the Telluride too.

@Eva
Looks great, nice job

I blacked out and debadged my 2023 SX-P. Here’s a pic: https://www.thisforum.com/r/KiaTelluride/s/Gk00TdakIB

I’m using your pics as a reference for mine! How did you manage the grill? Looks like it’d be a tough part to tackle.

@KnowNose
Actually, I had a pro handle it. Didn’t have the time or patience to DIY, but after seeing it done, I think I could have managed. I listed the services and costs in the comments on my post, but it’s a bit hard to give a clear breakdown since I was charged one price for several services.

@stillermint
Thanks, I really love the way it turned out!

Here’s my own blackout: https://www.thisforum.com/r/KiaTelluride/s/iDUgI6OSKq

Yes, you can black out the trim. You could have it wrapped, painted, or order black OEM trims from Kia. Personally, I think the silver trim looks nice. Blacked-out everything is kind of overdone these days.

Definitely possible

Just go to a local wrap shop and ask for a chrome delete. I’m planning to do this next myself, right after I get blacked-out wheels.

Does Kia offer it blacked out already? I just bought a 2024 model and saw the new 2025 comes fully blacked out.

I actually have my car in the shop for this right now. They call it a ‘dechrome package’ here.

Honestly, I’d just go ahead and buy the black trims and then sell your silver ones on eBay. You might even make some of the cost back.

I never really got the appeal of blacking out a car. I think it loses a lot of detail. I like the silver, but hey, to each their own.

That’s fair. I might like it better once I see it up close. I’m actually planning to keep some of the silver trim – like the grill outline and side accents. But for some reason, the bumper accents just don’t do it for me.

To me, the grey looks like cheap plastic. I have the 2022 Nightfall version, so I didn’t have to worry about this, but I can see how that grey might not look as nice.

@Natashawilliams
I can see that. I think blacked-out looks can make everything seem flat and you lose the detail between things like the rims, trim, and other parts. But yeah, each to their own.
