There’s an entire market for motorcycle trailers that can be towed by any car. I have a 2008 Time Out that I bought used for $4500. It weighs around 350lbs. The grey thing strapped down is where a cooler would usually go, but I swapped it with a solar battery setup. I also have a fabric cargo net that fits over the mat to pack stuff in the space between the legs.

That sounds like a great fit! Was it hard to get the trailer hitch installed?

No, not at all! I got a class 1 Soul hitch as the frame already had mounting points. I had the hitch, wiring, and install done by my local mechanic for about $500. The important thing is to use a European-style ball mount hitch with a rise so it doesn’t hit the ground when going over bumps.
@TALIA
Thanks for the info! Can’t wait to start camping daydreaming now .

I bought my hitch and wiring on Amazon and installed it myself. It cost about $250, and it was easy to do.

Thanks for the link. I use a small utility trailer for yard work and other stuff. I’ve been thinking about getting a small camper for years.
Nah, this person is definitely winning at life, nothing goofy about it!
With that goofy license plate
I love everything about this post
Your tent is definitely packed well. Terabyte and Tent.tar.gz
Everything about this is awesome. Where did you get your hitch installed?

I got the hitch and wiring kit from U-haul, and a local mechanic installed it. Even though the Soul doesn’t have a tow rating, it does have factory mounting points for a hitch!
@TALIA
This is exactly what I wanted to know, thanks! Was it the 1k lb or the 2k lb version from U-haul (or something different)?

I got the CURT Manufacturing hitch, which is rated for 2k lbs, a standard rating for class 1 hitches. I also got the electric brake wiring, but I still won’t tow more than 1500lbs for safety.
@Lisa
I should also mention that I used a European-style ball hitch with a 2.75" rise to prevent the hitch from scraping on every bump.
Sweet Soul with a trailer! I built my own HD hitch for mine. It’s awesome seeing a Soul pulling a trailer. I had to let go of my Soul , but I kept the hitch and wiring.
I love everything about this .
It looks pretty neat though.
