2025 Sportage Plug-In Hybrid leaking water… is this alright?

I noticed water leaking after I turn off the engine on cold days. Is this something I should be worried about?

The water is just condensation that isn’t evaporating because the battery reduces the need for the engine to generate enough heat. Mine does this too, but it’s usually not a lot of water.

It’s normal. There’s a small hole in the exhaust to drain condensation so it doesn’t cause rust. I used to work as a Kia tech.

It’s just condensation coming out of the exhaust. This happens when moisture builds up inside. Try driving with the gas engine running for about 15 minutes to dry it out. It’s good to let the engine run weekly.

Sounds like you might be low on muffler fluid.

Don’t forget, low muffler fluid can lead to muffler bearing failure.

While you’re checking, you might want to replace the centrifugal actuator so the muffler fluid doesn’t leak and corrode the bearings.

It’s just water from condensation. Cars don’t have any clear fluids that would leak otherwise.

Why does this question keep coming up? It’s been explained so many times. If you check under the car, you’ll see the hole is there on purpose.

Totally normal. Nothing to worry about, just condensation.

I asked my dealer about this. They said it’s normal condensation.

Completely normal, just some ‘speed juice’.

Has it been raining a lot? Or have you driven through puddles recently?

Looks like it’s time to get your muffler bearing replaced.

Nah, this is just coming from the blinker fluid tank.

Why do people downvote obvious jokes?

This is normal. Look up ‘exhaust weep hole’. The hole lets moisture drain out of the exhaust. Gas engines usually drip water, but hybrids might pour it out more often since the engine doesn’t run long enough to dry it up.

It’s normal to see some water coming from the exhaust, especially in hybrids. Gasoline produces water, and if the exhaust isn’t hot, it won’t evaporate. The hole is there to let water drain out.

But if there’s a lot of water, it might mean the hole was blocked, and the water built up before it finally drained. Keep an eye on it just in case.

That’s just Beetlejuice.

It’s fine, but maybe switch to a better gas station. That looks like cheap fuel.
