Nice! Is yours a hybrid? I’m thinking I might just do every 4k miles, but never go past 5k.
I have a 2024 Hybrid EX. Here’s some advice: Don’t push it too hard when it’s cold, and don’t shut it off immediately after hard driving. Let the oil in the turbo cool down. Read the manual carefully, especially the break-in procedure (use paddle shifters for that). Don’t block the hybrid battery intake vent—it’s easy to do given its location.
If you’re doing a lot of stop-and-go driving, try to take it on a longer drive to warm up the engine and oil regularly. Follow the severe use schedule.
Yes, the combination of hybrid, turbo, and GDI is tough on engine oil, so make sure to follow good oil change intervals and use high-quality oil. I did my first oil change at 3,000 miles, and I noticed the oil had a metallic sheen. I plan to stick with a 5,000-mile interval going forward.
If you’re not using top-tier gas, consider adding an injector cleaner at oil changes. It’s cheap if you do it yourself. Over the first 3,500-4,500 miles, you should see an improvement in your MPG, but cold weather will affect it.
To check your MPG, take a 20-minute drive to bring the engine temp up, then turn off the car for a bit. Drive back home using surface streets and check your MPG. You should see improvements.
