2025 Kia Carnival towing package issue

I have a 2025 Kia Carnival SX Prestige with VIP lounge seating, and I was told I can’t add a towing package that requires a wiring harness. There’s a sticker on the vehicle that says it’s not equipped with an 8-pin wiring harness connector, which means the factory hitch can’t be installed. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to add a tow hitch with a wiring harness?

The sticker is just saying the factory hitch can’t be installed because it doesn’t have the harness. You can still get an aftermarket hitch and wiring harness installed though.

Thanks for the info. Do you know of any good brands for aftermarket hitches?

@Hannah
Check out etrailer.com. They have hitches and wiring harness kits for your vehicle. Should be easy to install.

I ran into the same issue with my Carnival. I had to go the aftermarket route too, but once I did, everything worked fine. I got mine installed at a local shop.

Good to know it worked out for you. I’ll look into aftermarket options.

The wiring harness for an aftermarket hitch usually comes with installation instructions. It’s not too hard if you have some basic tools.

That’s great to hear. I’ll give it a shot myself.

If you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself, most shops can install the hitch and wiring for you. I had mine done at a dealer and it worked perfectly.

Good idea, I might let a pro handle it if it gets too complicated.

Make sure you get the right wiring harness for your vehicle. Some kits are universal but others are vehicle-specific, so double-check the compatibility.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll make sure I get the right one for my Carnival.
