Everything else like media and navigation is working fine, but when we press Radio, it just shows ‘Radio Off.’ We’ve got a service appointment scheduled for next week, but it’s pretty disappointing.
Edit: Thanks, everyone. I’m downloading the update now. Kia servers are super slow, though. Fingers crossed this fixes it.
Edit 2: Thanks again! The navigation update resolved it. What worked best for me was starting the system, going to settings, finding the update option, then plugging in the USB and pressing update. The automatic update that popped up when I first plugged in the USB seemed to keep reinstalling the updates over and over.
Sounds like you’ve been hit by that bug in the October 2022 navigation system software that stops the radio from working.
The fix is to download and install the latest available navigation system update (the May 2023 one). Do that, and it should be fixed. No need to waste time at the dealership.
Just a heads-up about your edits—the update is a multi-step process, and it has to run twice to finish completely. Be sure you’ve done that and check your version numbers to confirm you’re on the correct one. Just hoping to avoid a future post from you wondering why it’s acting up again.
Try updating the head unit’s firmware to the latest version. Firmware updates usually fix these kinds of issues. All you need is a computer and a USB drive.
If the issue keeps happening, then you can go to your service appointment. If it works, you saved yourself a lot of time.
