2021 Kia Telluride issue with iPod music playback

I’m having a recurring issue with my 2021 Kia Telluride (non-Harman Kardon system) when using iPods for music playback. I’ve tried both 5th and 7th gen iPods with tracks downloaded from CDs or purchased from iTunes. The problem doesn’t happen with other sources like the radio or XM streaming.

The dealership suggested it might be a software issue and mentioned that a complimentary scan could determine if a software update or component replacement is needed. For now, I was advised to disconnect both battery terminals for five minutes as a temporary fix, but the issue seems to return. Has anyone else dealt with this or found a permanent solution?

I’ve had a similar problem with my Kia. A software update at the dealership fixed it for me. Definitely worth taking it in for the scan.

Same here. The update didn’t take long and solved the playback issues on my iPod.

You might also want to check the iPod’s cable. I’ve found that using a non-OEM cable caused intermittent playback issues in my car.

Does the issue happen when streaming music from your phone? It could help rule out if the issue is specific to the iPod.

I’d recommend contacting Kia corporate to open a case. It ensures the issue is officially documented and might help with faster resolution.

Disconnecting the battery might work temporarily, but it’s better to get the software checked. Some Tellurides had issues that were resolved with firmware updates.
