2018 Kia Soul + spark plug and camshaft sensor replacement—labor time and part numbers?

I’m working on a 2018 Kia Soul + 2.0 with 89k miles. It’s throwing misfire and camshaft position codes (Bank 1). I’m hoping it’s just the spark plugs and camshaft sensor causing the issue and not something timing-related. I’m looking for:

  • Labor time for spark plug replacement and camshaft sensor replacement
  • OEM part numbers for the spark plugs and sensor

Has anyone dealt with this before on these engines? Any advice?

For spark plugs, the labor time is 1 hour. The OEM plugs are NGK with part number SILZKR7B11. Most auto parts stores should have them.

I’d go with NGK or Denso plugs. Stick to OEM for best results, especially on these engines.

The camshaft position sensor labor time is about 30 minutes. Make sure to use a genuine part or a high-quality aftermarket one.

At 89k miles, it’s a good idea to replace the plugs anyway. If the sensor doesn’t fix it, you might want to check the timing chain and phasers—these engines are known for issues.

I’ve had a similar issue. Replacing the sensor fixed it for me, but I also made sure the oil was fresh and at the right level. Low oil can mess with the cam phasers.

If you’re doing it yourself, the plugs are straightforward, but the camshaft sensor might require removing a few components for access. Check a repair manual for details.
