After recharging my 2015 Kia Forte 2.0 battery overnight, the key fob stopped unlocking the car. The original hard key is also missing. Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I check next?
Sounds like a dead fob battery. Have you tried replacing it yet? That would be my first move.

Agreed. I had a similar issue with my push-start car, and a fob battery swap fixed it.

Yeah, same here. It’s usually the simplest fix. Definitely give that a try!
Did you check the voltage on your car battery after charging? Maybe it didn’t charge fully.

Yeah, it was at 12.4 volts when I put it back in. So the battery seems fine.

That sounds right. If the voltage is good, then it’s probably something with the fob or the car’s system.
If the fob battery doesn’t fix it, check the car’s fuses. Sometimes a blown fuse can mess with the power systems.

Good call. I’ll check the fuses after swapping the fob battery.
Just a heads-up—if nothing works, you might need to get a locksmith or tow it to the dealer. They can program a new key if needed.

Hoping it doesn’t come to that, but thanks for the heads-up!
